A man who shot and killed an Iraq War veteran reveals his side of the story in an exclusive radio interview.
The American GI on the Inside: “The whole incident started because I was eavesdropping on an Imam making some big fatuous arguments with the Imam who didn’t know that I was there, and I was just like, ‘What you talkin’ about dude, everybody’s knowin’ what you talking about.'”
Ruben Torres believes they became physical.
“I thought he was going to kill me and I told him I would kill him. I threw my weapon up in the air and I ran and I just took my life. That’s the way I explained it in our court case.”
Robert Wentworth-Victim’s attorney: “There was nothing in the conversation that indicated, that he did not belong there. In fact, he was making these arguments that he was not supposed to be there in the first place, and Mr. Wentworth was making it within the context of ‘It’s time that the white man leaves this town.'”
“Regardless of what goes on in their mind about what they’re about to see, and how they see it. Whether it’s what they see on TV, whether it’s what they hear about in the media. I mean when I saw him, I saw him, and I heard him saying something and I reacted and I’ve never been the same since that.”
“That’s one of the reasons why they don’t understand why you shouldn’t be out there fighting them and why you shouldn’t live your life the way that you did.”
This interview originally aired on FOX’s AM 610 AM on February 6, 2018.
